Q. 1 Who is required to link Aadhar and PAN?
Ans. After the harmonious reading of the section, it could be said that anyone who is eligible to obtain an aadhar number must mandatorily intimate his aadhar number while filing the return. Also, he must ensure that his aadhar is linked with PAN.
Q.2 What if the person has only an enrollment number (and not aadhar) as his aadhar allotment is still under process?
Ans. Such persons can still file their return by intimating their enrollment number instead of aadhar. And you may get this enrollment number from the Acknowledgement/ EID slip provided by the enrolment Centre at the time of enrolment of aadhar.
Q.3 Is it mandatory for everyone to link their aadhar with PAN? Or are there any exceptions?
Ans. Linking of aadhar and PAN is mandatory for everyone except for the person:
Q.4 What will happen if my PAN is not linked to Aadhaar?
Ans. Your PAN will become inoperative after the specified date (i.e..,31st March 2023). And such pan will be considered as PAN not furnished or intimated wherever required and will attract a penalty.
Q.5 What should I do if I am not able to link my aadhar with PAN due to a mismatch in my Name/Phone Number/ or D.O.B in aadhar and PAN?
Ans. You have to correct your details in whichever document it is wrong. For correcting your PAN details you may use the TIN NSDL website or UTIITSL’s PAN Online portal. And for correcting the aadhar details you may use UIDAI’s website.
Q.6 Can’t I link my aadhar and PAN in an offline mode?
Ans. Yes, you can. But for that, you need to send an SMS from your mobile registered with Aadhaar to either of the PAN providers (NSDL or UTIITSL) at 567678 or 56161. Use this specific format in your SMS: UIDPAN <12-digit Aadhaar> <10-digit PAN>. And ensure that there are spaces between UIDPAN, your Aadhaar number, and your PAN.
Q.7 What if my PAN has become inoperative?
Ans. Well in such a case your PAN will become operative once you link it with aadhar.
