As per Notification No. So 3266(E) [No. 63/2019 (F.No. 370142/11/2019-TPL)], Dated 12-9-2019, the following table should be used for the Cost Inflation Index / Capital Gain Index:-

Important Points
- In the case of property received in the will, Capital Gain Index has to be taken for the year in which the property is received. The actual purchase year of the property has to be ignored.
- Ignore the improvement cost incurred before 1st April 2001.
- Index benefit is not allowed in the case of bonds or debentures except capital indexation bonds or sovereign gold bonds issued by RBI.
